brad's atomic grape tomato looks wild

Baker Creek, where I got Brad's Atomic Grape tomato seeds says that this is their favorite tomato and their best selling one. I can see why. It grows in multi-color shades and doesn't look like any tomato I've seen before.

Baker Creek, where I got Brad's Atomic Grape tomato seeds says that this is their favorite tomato and their best selling one. I can see why. It grows in multi-color shades and doesn't look like any tomato I've seen before. It looks uniquely different for a tomato, one must applaud the creativeness put into the stripes and the blush that manifests in the fruits.

This tomato was breed by Wild Boar Farms and reportedly won best in show at the 2017 National Heirloom Expo. More below:

"Indeterminate. These elongated multi-colored large cherries grow in clusters. Lavender and purple striped when immature, turning to green, red / brown with anthocycnin blue stripes when fully ripe. The interior is green with a blushed red when extra ripe. This amazing variety is delicately sweet. The fruit holds well on the vine and post harvest. The wispy foliage but produces a lot of fruit."

This was one of my favorite tomatoes this year, mainly because it looked so different and I loved the flavor. It is, however, at least in my garden, not as prolific as the black strawberry cherry tomatoes or the sweet million cherry tomatoes. The foliage was indeed wispy and the stems were not very strong. Perhaps it was because the cold snap caught the transplanted tomatoes early on.  In any case, I am excited to grow this variety again next year. I want to see what it looks like if left on its own with minimal pruning on my part.
