Over the years, certain tools, books, seeds, and garden supplies have proven especially useful here in this Pacific Northwest garden. I’ve gathered some of them here for readers who may find them helpful as well.

Most of these are things I use regularly or have come to appreciate through experience in the garden. As the garden evolves, this list will grow and change too.

garden tools

A few dependable tools make garden work easier and more enjoyable. These are some of the ones that have earned a permanent place in the shed.

(Add — pruners, hori hori knife, hand trowel, etc.)

seeds and plants

Finding good seed sources makes all the difference, especially when gardening in a cool coastal climate. These are companies that have served the garden well.

(Add seed companies here.)

books that inspire the garden

Every gardener collects a few favorite books along the way. Some offer practical advice, while others simply deepen one’s appreciation of the garden.

(Add titles here.)

birds and wildlife

Bird feeders, seed blends, and a few small habitat touches can turn a garden into a welcoming place for birds and pollinators.

A Small Note

Everything listed here reflects what has worked well in this particular garden in the Olympic rain shadow of Washington State. Your garden may have its own preferences, but good tools and thoughtful gardening practices travel well. ~RR
